Two decades one flight below Central Avenue
Haas Chiropractic opened in 2002, in the lower level of 657 Central Ave, and has never taken a second address. That is either stubborn or sensible depending on who you ask in Cedarhurst.
One chiropractor, one table, no handoffs
Timothy Haas examines, treats and rechecks every patient in this practice. There is no associate rota and no “your usual doctor is out today” phone call, which is the main reason people who moved out of the Five Towns still drive back for a Saturday morning.
The trade-off is honest: the book is smaller than a multi-doctor clinic and popular evening slots go early. Call on Monday for a Thursday and you will almost always get one.
A short history of a basement practice
- 2002 — the lease nobody wanted A lower-level unit on Central Avenue was cheap because it had no street window. It also had a quiet room with no traffic noise, which turned out to matter more.
- 2006 — the drop table arrives Enough patients arrived with replacements and thin bones that low-force adjusting stopped being an option and became half the practice.
- 2011 — no-fault becomes a specialty Accidents on the turnpike brought paperwork that patients could not face alone, so the office learned to complete and file it in-house.
- 2016 — traction for the leg cases Mechanical decompression was added so sciatica patients had something between an adjustment and a surgical consult.
- Today — Saturday mornings stay open The walk-in morning was meant to be temporary. Twenty years later it is the busiest three hours of the week.
Things this office will not do
No year-long contracts on day one. Care is planned in short blocks with a recheck at the third visit, because nobody can honestly predict twelve months of a back on the first handshake.
No adjusting before examining. If something on the exam does not add up, you get sent for imaging or to a physician before anyone lays hands on the joint.
No mystery pricing. Benefits are checked before treatment and the cash rate is quoted on the phone if you ask for it.
Come down and get looked at
Bring your insurance card, wear something you can move in, and give yourself forty-five minutes for a first visit.
